Nuestros Recuerdos is an annual series of five limited-edition creations—an invitation to explore the most exquisite facets of Día de Muertos. The series began in 2021 with Sabores (“Flavors”) inspired by the traditional foods and sweets of the celebration. It was followed by Colores (“Colors”) in 2022, Aromas (“Aromas”) in 2023, and Música (“Music”) in 2024.

This fifth and final installment pays tribute to the very soul of this festivity: the memories that keep our loved ones present, and the symbolic offerings that allow us to celebrate their lives.

The spirit crafted for this limited edition is an exquisite añejo tequila, masterfully crafted under the guidance of our Master Distiller, Viridiana Tinoco. This exceptional blend harmonizes tequilas aged for different lengths of time (starting at 12 months and up to 38 months) in first-use American whiskey casks. A portion of the agave used was artisanally cooked in a pit oven, imparting a rich sensorial depth that reveals a nuanced and layered profile; a tribute to the complexity of our most cherished memories.

The unaged tequila that served as the base for this spirit is the result of combining two time-honored agave cooking methods: masonry and pit ovens, resulting in a warm, complex profile with notes that evoke fire and slow-roasted agave. Like a vessel of memories, each cask used to age the tequila imparted complementary sensory layers, offering sweet orange nuances, touches of caramel and subtle hints of clove.

For our Master Distiller, this añejo tequila represented a nostalgic return to their grandmother’s kitchen, to the wood-fired stove where she made tortillas. The notes of wood and smoke evoke vivid memories filled with deep affection. In Tinoco’s words, “creating this tequila was a way to relive those moments with the heart and transform them into a liquid tribute.” More than a tequila, she said, “it is an act of love that turns nostalgia into presence.”

TASTING NOTES
Color: deep amber with golden highlights
Body: full Aroma: cooked agave, smoked wood, orange peel, caramel and clove
Palate: cooked agave, orange marmalade and delicate spiced notes of clove and cinnamon, leading to a long, lingering finish of citrus and toasted wood.

DECANTER
The ivory-colored decanter of this limited edition is a tribute to the intimate act of remembrance. Its palette of soft, muted tones evokes an atmosphere where every object becomes a vessel of memory. Adorning the base is an illustration by Mexican artist Erika Rivera, currently based in Australia, portraying a traditional ofrenda lovingly set up by a family. The illustration depicts iconic elements of an ofrenda: cempasúchil blossoms, pan de muerto, papel picado, candles and sugar skulls, as well as the silhouette of the decanter for this release. Surrounding the ofrenda, those being remembered appear as spirits in gentle tones—present yet intangible.

ORNAMENT
Bathed in 24-karat gold, the ornament for this limited edition is a handcrafted locket that opens to reveal a reflective obsidian cameo, a tribute to eternal remembrance and those we hold dear.
• In Día de Muertos tradition, mirrors are placed on ofrendas beside portraits of departed loved ones, so their souls may recognize themselves upon returning from the hereafter.

The face of the locket is adorned with intricate milagritos in low relief.
• Milagritos—the Spanish word for “little miracle”—are small, symbolic charms that are typically cast from brass. Part of Mexican tradition, they are typically offered in thanks for miracles granted, especially those related to healing or protection from misfortune.
• Each milagrito carries its own meaning: a heart for love or recovery from heart ailments, an arm or leg in gratitude for physical healing, eyes for restored sight, etc.

Surrounding the milagritos are sculpted motifs that echo the sacred language of the ofrenda: candles, sugar skulls and censers. This artisanal piece was handcrafted in the artisan workshop Milagros de Latón, based in the community of Tesistán, Jalisco. This family-run workshop crafted the ornaments for the entire Nuestros Recuerdos series, making this edition the culmination of five years of collaboration.

Each ornament required about 50 steps and up to 12 hours of daily work. The process began with a hand-chiseled brass prototype, used to create molds through the lost wax technique. Once cast, each piece was cut, assembled and refined using intricate chiseling and repoussé to achieve a rich, sculptural relief. The obsidian centerpiece was meticulously carved by hand to an exceptionally fine thickness, a technically demanding process requiring great precision.

Final steps in the piece’s creation included polishing, gold-plating, hand-cleaning, and the application of a custom patina.
